From our survey and knowledge on the clipping control unit
of Air Clipper used in plywood mill, we classified it into 3
common types:
◊ Limit Switch Control: This type of
clipping control uses a Limit Switch as a clipping sensor. It
uses the limit switch ON signal (when veneer touches the limit
switch) to activate the “veneer-clip” action. This type of
clipping control is considered to be the most inaccurate among
the others, even at constant clipper conveyor speed!
◊ Photoelectric Sensor Control: This
type of clipping control uses a Photoelectric Sensor as a
clipping sensor. It uses the sensor ON signal (when veneer
passes the sensor sensing area) to activate the “veneer-clip”
action. This type of clipping control is better to maintain if
compared to limit switch control. However, it still shows very
poor clipping accuracy, especially when clipper conveyor speed
varies rapidly!
◊ Rotary Encoder Control: This type
of clipping control uses a Rotary Encoder to “count” the veneer
length continuously. Once its “count” matches the preset count
value of a counter, a “veneer-clip” action will be activated. In
fact this type of clipping control should be the best among the
others. However, due to the poor design of the clipping control
system, its clipping accuracy is disappointing too, especially
when clipper conveyor speed varies rapidly!
As such, we have studied the root of the
existing problem, and have successfully designed and developed
CLP-03 – Auto Clipper Automatic Clipping Device.
The outstanding benefits that this device contributes are:
-
Accurate veneer clipping length (10mm
difference and below), even at rapid changes in clipper
conveyor speed.
-
Easy-to-set, and Easy-to-switch between
Long-cut veneer length and Short-Cut veneer length.
-
One-step setting/adjustment for veneer
front cut length and clipping compensation time.
-
User-friendly and easy-to-maintain control
unit.
